It is in a perfect location for a city break extremely central for getting around the city

It was very cold in the room when we arrived back after our night out

The hotel was warm, comfortable, friendly and welcoming. The central location meant that I was within minutes of everywhere I needed to go. I liked the traditional atmosphere and would definitely stay there again.

Although I had ticked the box for non-smoker my bedroom smelled strongly of stale cigarettesmoke. Some late-night revellers were extremely noisy in returning to their rooms in the small hours. Not the fault of the hotel I know, but perhaps they could put up notices asking guests to be considerate and not disturb others.

The location of the hotel was the best thing about it

It wasn't a very clean hotel it could to with a good revamp there was a smell in the lift. The bed linen was clean but the room wasn't in the best shape the whole hotel needs to be done up.

The good humour and helpfullness of staff and the encounter with your historic and beautiful front room with wrought iron balcony which has been so lovingly restored

somewhat bockety arrangement of corridors to the new back wing (uphill and down), unappealing doors; carpets in need of renewal; some cooking smells

    The best is the localization.

Not clean: carpets very dirty in the room and especially in the corridors. My room was suppose to have wireless and it was not the case. Sense of unsafety.

I was not impressed at all with our stay. There was damp wet smell as we went to our room, we could not close the window & there were buckets along side our room for a leak in the roof.

Fantastic location it is right in the middle of the city and accessible to nightlife and shopping.

It was raining during our stay and this caused a sizable leak outside our hotel room where three buckets were placed in the middle of the floor to colect the water this did not suffice as the carpet was soaked. The bathroom was dirty with lots of cracks with mildew and grot. The entrance to the hotel has marble steps there was a leak from the porch canapy over the steps leaking onto the steps this caused a large puddle which was extremely dangerous.

The central location was excellent, and the chap on reception was very helpful. To their credit a partial refund was given due to heating problems in the room (see below).

Both rooms we stayed in were in desterate need of an overhaul. Decor was very tired, bulbs not working, electrical blanking plates covering poor diy jobs, poor lighting in rooms, shower heads long overdue a de-scale, an air of mustiness. The heating in our second room (Room 322) did not work.
